Background
Visa developed Visa Accept to compete with emerging payment acceptance solutions that bypass traditional card networks. We targeted markets where small-scale sellers — who often rely on local fintechs — needed a faster, more accessible way to accept payments. The goal was to provide these sellers with a simple on-ramp to start accepting payments immediately, while offering a clear pathway to full merchant status with a bank.
ROLE
As the sole product designer, I led the design process from initial concept through MVP launch. I collaborated closely with researchers, product managers, and engineers to define the product vision, shape the user experience, and ensure technical feasibility. Throughout the project, I presented key design decisions and prototypes to our Chief Product Officer and regional product directors, ensuring alignment with both global strategy and local market needs.
Impact
Visa unveiled Visa Accept at our first-ever Product Drop event in San Francisco in October. Since then, we’ve partnered with ecosystem players to launch pilots and begin testing. The solution has sparked significant client engagement and earned media coverage.

Opportunity
Many small sellers rely on cash — yet they use digital banking for their personal finances. By giving these sellers a way to accept digital payments using technology they already have, Visa can help them reach more customers and open a gateway to new relationships with financial institutions.

Solution
By enabling existing debit cards to receive funds, not just spend them, we can enable millions of cardholders to accept payments instantly — without opening a new account, installing specialized hardware, or learning complicated point-of-sale systems.
